In short, the responsibility of the Account Manager is to be the client’s representative at the agency, and the agency’s representative at the client’s organization. It is the Account Manager’s job to get the best possible work from the agency for the client but at a profitable return for the agency.

Qualified applicants should meet the following requirements to have success in this role:

  • Be comfortable collaborating with strategists and production teams within the agency so that they give the client their best effort without spending more time than contracted (Familiar with billable hours and utilization rates? You’ve got that agency experience we’re looking for.)
  • Be a natural relationship builder and develop a thorough knowledge of the client’s business, the consumer, the marketplace and all aspects of advertising, including SEO, paid media, creative, research and more
  • Familiarity managing/coordinating client marketing projects
  • Ability to take an active role in client projects as needed, which requires basic knowledge and experience in all disciplines from planning to completion
  • Experience effectively executing marketing strategies, problem solving and developing solid business relationships

At Active Marketing, the Account Manager functions as a team leader and strategist and must communicate the client’s needs clearly to the agency team, plan effectively to maximize staff time and energy and present the agency’s recommendations candidly to the client.

The Account Manager must be able to foster productive communication between clients and agency staff, identify common goals and make sure that the final product is profitable and effective for the client and the agency.

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Strong general business and marketing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • A capacity for statistical analysis
  • Infallible organizational skills
  • BA/BS in Business, marketing or similar field (or equivalent working experience)
  • 2+ years’ experience working as a professional account or project manager, experience in that role within a marketing or advertising agency is highly desired.

The Account Manager will prepare monthly reports for clients, showing performance and strategy.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience working as an agency Account Manager.
