What is a Creative Director? Creative directors play an essential role in the marketing, creative, communications and all things digital. Not only are they responsible for leading their team, but they must be able to develop and enforce creative guidelines, direct creative work, including both print collateral, websites, email campaigns, and other related tasks.
It’s both a dynamic and diverse position. One day you may be writing copy for the launch of a new website and the next you could be part of a pitch with a prospective client. You’ll need to be an expert in all facets of the creative process — and the creative industry — in order to produce the best work.
Did we mention that Creative Directors must be great leaders? With the ability to maximize the talents of their teams, they must be able to motivate, support and encourage their team to produce the best work on behalf of the client. This means that they wear many hats. From being a coach to a teacher, Creative Directors are instructors and critics all at the same time. You will be working with copywriters, graphic designers, web designers, account managers, brand managers and other marketers on a daily basis.
